Getting to Know Some of Functions in the Settings Menu Blog

When we create a blog using blogspot facilities, we may be confused with the functions available on blogger. In fact, if set properly we can optimize our blog at max. In this post I will give a little explanation of the some functions in the settings menu blog. So that my friends could be easier to optimize blog.

1. Menu Settings -> Basic
  • Title: to fill the blog title, this title will appear in the header of the blog and search engine pages (SERP).
  • Description: to fill the blog description, this description will appear in the header of the blog.
  • Privacy: Listed on Blogger, visible to search engines.
  • Blogspot Address: if custom domain to replace blogspot address domain to yourself then that is to replace the blogspot address one address to another blogspot (unregistered).
  • HTTPS Availability: Turning on HTTPS Availability will allow visitors to view your blog over an encrypted connection by visiting https://tutorxbamboe.blogspot.com. Currently, this feature is only supported for Blogspot domain blogs.
  •  Blog Authors: allow others to participate write on your blog. Authors do click Add and enter the email addresses of people who want to be invited then click Invite
  • Blog Readers: to set who can read your blog article.
2. Menu Setting -> Post and Comments
  • Show at most: to determine the number of posts that will appear on the page in the blog.
  • Post Template: post templates pre-format the post editor with text or code that will appear each time you create a new post.
  • Showcase images with Lightbox: when clicked, your images will open in an overlay on top of your blog. If your post has multiple images, they will appear as thumbnails along the bottom.
  • Comment Location: embedded will allow users to reply from the post, Full page and Popup window will take them to a new page.
    Note: Selecting Hide does not delete existing comments, you can show them at any time by selecting another option.
  • Who can comment: to determine who is allowed to comment.
  • Comment Moderation: to filter incoming comments before it is posted.
  • Show word verification for comments: to display the verification code if anyone wants to comment in order to avoid the spam bot system.
  • Show Backlinks: to set whether to be notified if there is put a link on our article or not.
  • Comment Form Message: to display a short message above the comment box.
3. Menu Settings -> Email
  • Posting using emailalso known as Mail2Blogger, use this address to post text and images (up to 10MB in size) directly to your blog.
  • Comment Notification Email: to get notifications from bloggers via email if there is leave a comment.
  • Email posts to: email addresses to your blog mailed to whenever you publish.
4. Menu Settings -> Language and Formating
  • Language: to select the language that will be used.
  • Enable transliteration: to enable the translation function on the post editor into the selected language.
  • Time Zone: to specify the time zone in which we live. For example (GMT + 07:00) Jakarta for Indonesia.
  • Date Header Format: to specify the date format that will be displayed above the post title.
  • Timestamp Formats: to determine the time format that will be displayed on the post.
  • Comments Timestamp Format: to choose the time format that will be displayed in the comment box.
 5. Menu Settings -> Search Preferences
  • Description: help users choose to click on your blog in search results by writing a compelling summary of what your blog is all about.
  • Custom Page Not Found: enter an HTML message that will be displayed on the Page Not Found page instead of the generic message.
  • Custom Redirects: add custom redirect for external URLs pointing to your blog that do not point to existing posts or pages.
  • Custom robots.txt: this text will be served instead of the default robots.txt content to search engines.
  • Custom robots header tags: these flags are used to set the robots header tags served to search engines.
 6. Menu Setting -> Other
  • Blog Tools: to restore (import blog), backup (export blog) and permanently delete the blog (delete blog).
  • Allow Blog Feed: to determine the number of characters article sent via RSS Feed or Email Feed.
  • Post Feed Redirect URL: to fill your Feed URL address. If you have not had in clear only.
  • Post Feed Footer: to fill an additional text to the feed.
  • Enable Title Links and Enclosure Links: this adds the title link and enclosure link options in the post editor. Title links allow you to set a custom URL for your post title. Enclosure links are used to make podcasts, MP3s, and other content in your posts playable in feeds like RSS and Atom.
  • Your OpenID URL: OpenID sort your identity on the Internet, with OpenID you can enter into different websites that support OpenID without entering a username and password as usual.
  • Adult Content: to determine whether our blogs containing pornographic content or not.
  • Analytics Web Property ID: Add Google Analytics to your blog to see how visitors interact with your site, add your Google.
